President’s Message
September 2014
Friends,
As we come to the end of another year, 5744 in the Hebrew calendar, I am struck by how difficult life has become for so many of us. In my own circumstance, I have undergone one knee surgery, and if you listen to my surgeons, there are several more to come. I have been away from the shul more than ever in the past and expect this will continue for awhile. Your help is needed to keep things running smoothly during this period. If you have ideas or some time and want to get involved please call the office to volunteer. We have things for you to do and will train you if you wish. All help will be greatly appreciated.
We at Agudas Achim have been in our current building at 1244 north main street in west Hartford for more than 45 years, which is now more time than we occupied our former building at 221 greenfield street in Hartford. Our building is showing signs of wear and needs repairs and routine upkeep. Please keep this in mind when you are making donations to the shul.
Hopefully you have enjoyed meeting our Rabbi, Chagie Rubin and have attended his weekly classes and monthly Sunday breakfast chats. Rabbi and Deena Rubin are blessed with a large and talented family. Their Sons Yaakov and Shimshon were married this past year and Yehuda’s Bar Mitzvah is coming up shortly. Occasionally, visiting Rubin relatives join us for simchas, participate in our services and help us to make our minyans, but, we struggle to make daily minyans more than we would like and need your help to ensure this community service continues.
Despite our problems and limitations, we are still a friendly, warm, welcoming, congregation with many learned, entertaining, and interesting members and friends. Whether you attend regularly or just occasionally, please continue to join us for services and activities.
As you read this edition of our Announcer, you will see the names of our supporters and opportunities for support. It is never too late to contribute. No amount is too small. I cannot think of a more worthy cause than our shul that deserves and appreciates your time and money. Please be generous with both than you have been in the past.
Thank You.
Be Well.
Best Wishes for a Happy, Healthy and sweet new year.
